Course Information
Know Before You Choose
Not sure what CPR, AED, First Aid, or BLS actually mean? Start here.
Before choosing a course, it helps to understand what each type of training covers. Here, you'll find a quick overview of the skills and courses offered by Silver Sage CPR. If you're still unsure which course is right for you, we're happy to help.
-
CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) is a lifesaving skill used when someone is unresponsive and not breathing normally. CPR training teaches participants how to recognize cardiac arrest, provide high-quality chest compressions, and respond confidently while emergency medical services are on the way.
CPR is for everyone. You don't need to work in healthcare or have a professional certification requirement to learn how to help save a life.
-
An AED (Automated External Defibrillator) is a portable device designed to help someone experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. Training teaches participants how to safely and confidently use an AED alongside CPR.
AED training is incorporated into our applicable American Heart Association CPR courses and gives participants hands-on experience responding to a cardiac emergency.
-
First Aid training prepares participants to recognize and respond to common medical emergencies and injuries until professional medical care becomes available.
For individuals and workplaces that need both CPR and First Aid training, Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED provides comprehensive instruction within one course.
-
Heartsaver CPR AED is designed for individuals with little or no medical training who need CPR and AED education for a workplace requirement or who simply want to be prepared to respond during an emergency.
This course is a great fit for many workplaces, community members, parents, caregivers, fitness professionals, and other non-healthcare settings.
First Aid is not included in this course.
-
Our most comprehensive Heartsaver option combines First Aid, CPR, and AED training in one course.
This course is well suited for workplaces and organizations that need broader emergency-response training, including construction and skilled trades, childcare and education settings, community organizations, and other workplaces where First Aid and CPR training may be required.
-
BLS (Basic Life Support) Provider training is designed primarily for healthcare professionals and others whose employment or professional requirements specify BLS certification.
The course focuses on high-quality CPR, AED use, recognition of life-threatening emergencies, multi-rescuer response, and effective team-based resuscitation skills.
BLS Provider does not include a comprehensive First Aid course.
